BORN working team member Juliana M. Pistorius’s monograph, Postcolonial Opera: William Kentridge and the Unbounded Work of Art, has been published by Oxford University Press. Postcolonial Opera examines the social and political role of opera in the postcolony. Taking as a starting point the experimental theatre works of South African artist William Kentridge, the book investigates contemporary opera’s capacity to process the troubled histories that haunt post- and decolonial societies.
