BORN is proud to partner with the South African Society for Research in Music (SASRIM) for their 18th Annual Conference, 2024. The conference, which takes place 26-28 July at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, draws together researchers from across the African continent and further afield.
SASRIM’s conferences cover a range of topics engaged not only with musics of Africa, but with music cultures around the world in all their variety and diversity. To mark the collaboration between SASRIM and BORN, this year’s conference will feature a special interest in opera. We look forward to assembling a diverse programme of events and presentations, and to meeting up with colleagues both old and new.
All interested parties are invited to submit a proposal using the relevant google form by 8 March 2024. Queries may be sent to abstracts@sasrim.ac.za.
